<CORRECTION SUBMITTED JUNE 26> F Apsenieks vs Euwe, 1924 This game score shows <35.Rb1> as the final movie, but in fact Black resigned after <30.Rxe4>. The rest of the moves after that are analysis by Max Euwe. Two contemporaneous sources- one Dutch, one Latvian- show the game ending after <30.Rxe4>: Delpher Kranten: https://www.delpher.nl/nl/kranten/v... Rigasche Rundschau: http://periodika.lv/periodika2-view... In addition, Val Zemitis' <"Encyclopedia of Latvian Chessplayers Vol I, p.A-54> also has black resigning after <30.Rxe4>. The Encyclopedia entry explicitly states that the moves 30...Rxb7 to 35.Rb1 is analysis by <Max Euwe> conducted after the game was over. "Notes are based on those of M. Euwe."

Incorrect player- should be <Evsey Poliak> Yevsei Polyak , not Abram Polyak . Rolf Voland's "Strategem im Hinterland- Das UdSSR-Schach 1941-1945" published a crosstable for <Sverdlovsk 1942> based on an actual contemporaneous source- a tournament bulletin: "Sverdlovskij sachmatnyj turnir s ucastiem masterov SSSR; Sverdlovsk 1942" (Voland, p.238) The crosstable, written in German, lists "J. Poljak" If you type "Evsey Poliak" into the google translator from English to Russian, you will see the Russian result- transliterated to Romanized letters- to be "Yevsey Polyak". Now click on the "sound icon" and listen to the pronunciation in Russian- it clearly says "Yevsey Polyak". So in German, the letter "y" is written as the letter "j": "Jevesy Poljak", or "J. Poljak" as it appears in Voland's crosstable. Here is a screenshot of the translation result: https://i.imgur.com/evX5op2.png Voland's crosstable matches the crosstable in Rusbase, which lists "E.
